DOCUMENTARY FILM PRODUCTION

Meridian Hill Pictures produces original documentary films and partners with leading organizations on the front-lines of social change to tell true stories that advance conversation, new understanding and action. Our films commonly focus on stories of local significance, connecting community-based stories to efforts that advance dialogue and connect with broad audiences. Our expertise spans end-to-end production management for documentary films, from initial pre-production and storyboarding to implementation of outreach and engagement campaigns.

MEDIA EDUCATION

In a classroom or on a set, a documentary filmmaker is by nature an educator, sharing information, ideas and new perspectives to viewers. Regardless of one’s profession or path in life, in today’s media-driven society, the ability to express oneself through visual storytelling is an essential skill for every engaged citizen. Meridian Hill Pictures designs and facilitates innovative media education residencies for people of all ages and backgrounds. We impart our students with the critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration life skills necessary to become thriving, creative and innovative pioneers in a 21st century global society.

COMMUNITY-BASED FILM EXHIBITION

Despite the exponential growth of digital platforms and communities, we believe people have never lost the innate desire to gather in social, public spaces for idea exchange. In an age of increased virtual connectivity, The Picturehouse screening series offers an opportunity to reinvigorate the social and public aspects of film and video exhibition. The Picturehouse represents a collection of unique indoor and outdoor physical spaces where members of the community can express themselves through a range of visual storytelling. At The Picturehouse, conversations begin that lead toward new consciousness and social action. The Picturehouse brings people together from different walks of life, forming positive relationships through visual mediums in a community space.
